It seems ...Our society has a band wagon mentality. It seems everyone jumps on these wagons to feel like they are apart of some action or thought. I agree, Harry, that actions speak louder than words. Most people though are the arm chair and computer critics that feel that they are contributing to a cause from a distance. But people have a bad tendency thinking that going to these events are actually helping out. Sadly, they really are not and just attempting to sooth a feel or their conscience. Most go back to their lives and forget about it until next year then the light bulb goes on and off we go again to another event. We have become a society of sheeple. We follow the latest whim and protest thinking we are contributing. We are contributing to a point but we are also a major factor in social media and news media bullying. If most pepole would be honest with themselves, we are pushed and bullied around, in some form or another, every minute daily. Sadly, most us have become part of this new form of bullying. And yes, it is bullying. Like the friend you sadly disconnected from, had got caught up in the new bullying. Our current society is constantly telling us what to do, how to think and how to act. Our choices define what we are and what we do with it, or not do with it, is our choice. We can turn it around for a positive response but will we?
I have been bullied all my life and still get bullied, but I choose to not let these idiots define me or ruin my life. In my childhood, the way bullied were dealt with, was taking them off school property and give them a beating that they never forget. We didn't have social shaming, or electronic BS. We dealt with it without protests or special days. And if the kid kept bullying, we went with our parents to the bullies house and dealt with the problem. Just my 2 cents.
Well written Harry and as usual, valid points.
D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15233393121151895578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1005196875375123554.post-78215240824043998942017-02-22T11:53:15.127-07:002017-02-22T11:53:15.127-07:00Excellent observation.
